"Close your eyes like this (squint really hard) and you'll see beautiful things!". That's what Maria said yesterday. I assume she was referring to the little floater things you see when you close your eyes. Sometimes I wonder how adult life looks through the eyes of a three-year-old. Maria has made some pretty interesting observations about things in my day-to-day life. Here are a few from the other day for your enjoyment.
9:00 a.m. (after I've been up until 3 am studying): Mommy! UGH! That is enough sleeping. Ava keeps talking in her bed and soon she's going to poop and I can't reach her to take her out. It's time to get up and turn on the TV.
11:00 a.m. (balancing my checkbook): Wow mommy I see so many numbers there. Oh look, I see four numbers there and then down at the bottom there are only two numbers. Where did all the other numbers go mommy?
12:30 p.m. (gripping to my last bit of composure as I try so hard to get us out the door with no time to spare): Mommy, you look really angry. Instead of yelling you should just use your words and tell me why you are so angry. AVA SHHHHH!!!! I can't put my coat on when you keep pooping!
5:30 p.m. (as I walk in to Maria's class room to pick her up): Oh you came to pick me up? I thought daddy was going to. (I point out that tomorrow, he'll be able to come with me to get her) Okay. I'll have a good day tomorrow because daddy will come pick us up.
6:15 p.m. (like a short order cook, I prepare dinners that are almost nothing alike for each of us): AVA ROSE! EAT YOUR CARROTS! (Ava tries to hand one to Maria) NOOOOOOOOO Ava! I can't eat carrots because I don't like them. (I point out that she won't know if she doesn't like it until she tries it) Well, I can't eat carrots because I won't try them!
6:23 p.m. (as I sit down to eat): Mommy, I have a lot of poop and pee that's about to come out. I have to go potty RIGHT NOW!
6:25 p.m. MOMMEEEEEEEE! Can you come wipe my butt?!!
6:26 p.m. Thank you so much mommy. Thank you for wiping my butt.
8:30 p.m. (as we read books before bed) I love you so much mommy! You're so pretty and a friend. When I grow up I want to be your mommy.
8:45 p.m. (as I kiss Maria good night): Good night mommy. I'll see you in the morning. Hey mommy? Will I have nipples and a big vagina too when I get bigger?
Since she's totally serious, I have to bite my lip and squint my eyes shut to keep from laughing.... hey you know what? She's right! (about the beautiful things...not big vaginas)
